Equality & Tolerance

Imagine this: a nation that is set up with individual families that are thriving, that are healthy, that communicate, that raise their children in love, have a better rate of becoming better human beings and that’s what we need to create.

Black men, it starts with you, it’s done man, we can’t be trash no more. We have to be better. Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting.

One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.

Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away, and that in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.

Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.

It belongs to the very substance of nonviolence never to destroy or damage another person’s feeling of self worth, even an opponent’s.

No matter how big a nation is, it is no stronger than its weakest people, and as long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you might otherwise.

The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward.

None of us is responsible for the complexion of his skin. This fact of nature offers no clue to the character or quality of the person underneath.

It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences

In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist. We must be anti-racist.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Hating each other because of their colour is wrong and it doesn’t matter which colour does the hating. It’s just wrong.

If tolerance, respect and equity permeate family life, they will translate into values that shape societies, nations and the world.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
